Job Description
Endoscopy RN – Travel Contract
Location: Lexington, KY
Start Date: 06/17/2025
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Shift: Days – 3×12-Hour (06:30–19:00)
Pay Rate: $41/hour
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Endoscopy Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity procedural team in a fast-paced, hospital-based setting. This unit supports a busy gastroenterology and pulmonary service line within a Level 1 Trauma Center, providing care to complex patients in both scheduled and emergent cases.
This is a highly collaborative, hands-on environment involving direct patient care from pre-procedure assessment through post-procedure recovery, with occasional cross-facility floating.
Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare procedure rooms and assist with a variety of endoscopic procedures, including EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, and bronchoscopy
-Monitor patients receiving moderate (conscious) sedation; manage airway and respond to potential complications
-Assess and document patient vitals and procedural responses pre-, intra-, and post-procedure
-Collaborate with gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and endoscopy techs
-Provide education to patients and families on pre/post-procedure care
-Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control standards
-Assist in emergency situations including code response if needed
-Use EPIC for documentation (preferred but not required)
-Float between multiple procedural areas and facilities as needed
Requirements:
-Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy RN experience in a hospital setting
-Prior experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center
-Must be comfortable responding to urgent procedural calls and working independently
-Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS – all required at time of submission
Strongly preferred:
-Experience assisting with ERCPs and bronchoscopies
-Experience working alongside or supporting endoscopy technicians is a plus
-Telemetry proficiency and conscious sedation experience required
-Must be able to arrive at bedside within 1 hour when on call
Additional Information:
-Candidate must hold an active KY or compact RN license at the time of submission
-No licensure issues or prior disciplinary actions will be accepted
