Job Description

Our client is a global manufacturer of food packaging products and solutions. They are looking for a Stationary Engineer for their Chicago facility. These are trial-to-hire positions. Hours are 6pm-6am, on a weekly rotating schedule, with an on-call component. Pay will start at $32/hour The Stationary Engineer will be responsible for operating and maintaining the mechanical, electrical, and physical condition of steam boilers, systems, and ancillary equipment. Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing steam boilers and ancillary equipment, including compressors, generators, and pumps. The responsibilities of the Stationary Engineer will include, but are not limited to: Operate the steam boilers and ancillary equipment per local and state standards. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair steam boilers and ancillary equipment, including compressors, generators, pumps, and equipment, both electrical (excluding PLCs) and mechanical problems relating to boiler equipment and systems, including pneumatic and plumbing problems related to boilers. Perform preventive maintenance on the steam boiler and ancillary equipment. Maintain a current stationary engineer operator’s license for local and state certification. Use the maintenance computer program to interface with work orders, parts, and PM systems. Inspection, maintenance, and repair of all boilers and related equipment to reduce waste and maintain efficiency. Maintain daily logs, equipment documentation, PM documentation, work orders, pass downs, and time sheets. Organize and maintain equipment, department spare parts inventory, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; requisition of parts; verifying receipt. Perform preventive maintenance on the steam boiler and ancillary equipment. Troubleshoot equipment, both electrical (excluding PLCs) and mechanical problems relating to boiler equipment and systems, including pneumatic and plumbing problems related to boilers.

Job Requirements

What the Stationary Engineer must have: 2-3 years of experience in power plant operation and firing high-pressure stationary boilers is a common requirement. Must have a current stationary engineer operator’s license for local and state certification Must be able to multitask, have strong organizational skills, and have the ability to prioritize workload High School Diploma or Equivalent Must be able to work independently as well as with a team Ability to comply with all pre-employment screens.
