Job Description
The Director of Manufacturing Operations is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of manufacturing
activities, including production planning, plant management, quality control, and process optimization. This role
ensures that production goals are met efficiently, safely, and at the highest quality standards. The Director plays a
critical role in aligning operational performance with company objectives and driving continuous improvement across
manufacturing sites.
II. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management:
? Lead daily operations of manufacturing facilities to meet production goals, quality standards, and delivery
timelines.
? Supervise plant managers, production supervisors, and key operations staff.
? Establish performance metrics and accountability systems across departments.
Production & Process Optimization:
? Oversee production scheduling, capacity planning, and workflow optimization.
? Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
? Collaborate with engineering on new process development and technical problem-solving.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
? Ensure adherence to internal quality control standards and external regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO,
OSHA, FDA if applicable).
? Partner with the Quality team to improve defect rates, reduce rework, and enhance customer satisfaction.
? Maintain documentation and participate in audits or inspections.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
? Work closely with supply chain, procurement, logistics, and design to align operations with demand and new
product introductions.
? Support collaboration between production and sales to manage lead times and customer expectations.
Strategic & Financial Oversight:
? Develop and manage the manufacturing budget, including labor, materials, and capital investments.
? Analyze production data and KPIs to inform strategic decisions and drive operational efficiency.
? Lead or support facility expansions, upgrades, or new technology adoption.
III. Job Qualifications
? Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
8–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing or production operations.
? Strong background in plant management, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
? Experience with ERP/MRP systems and data-driven production planning.
? Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop teams.
? Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
? Experience with ERP systems and data-driven performance management.

IV. Physical Demands
Must possess mobility to work in an office and warehouse setting and use standard office equipment,
including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to
communicate in person and over the telephone. Sitting, standing, walking, turning head and torso, reaching,
grasping, bending and flexing of the arms, legs, wrists and fingers, including lifting of equipment and business-
related items will be required. Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance.
