Job Description
Direct Hire – Brady Spooling Operator
Starting Pay: $17.33 per hour
Schedule: 2 days work, 2 days off, 3 days work (alternating 36 hours one week, 48 hours the next)
Position Summary:
The Brady Spooling Operator is responsible for setting up, feeding, spooling, cutting, and completing work orders per customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience:
-High School Diploma or equivalent required
-1 year of manufacturing experience preferred
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Set up and operate spooling machines
-Monitor and adjust machines as necessary
-Manually position, adjust, and feed material to complete orders
-Read and interpret work orders for product specifications
-Load spools of material onto machines
-Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with maintenance
Plan and forecast spooling schedules and daily orders
Assemble spools and boxes as needed
Follow all company policies, procedures, and work instructions
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs to maintain an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workplace
Adhere to the “Leader Standard Work” profile
Operate all equipment safely and effectively
Train new and junior employees on SOPs, safety, efficiency, and quality standards
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements
Skills & Abilities:
-Ability to read gauges, perform measurements, and calculate deviations and percentages
-Competent with computer and data entry for production metrics
-Manual dexterity and strong motivation to learn
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Strong active listening and verbal communication skills
-Adaptability to fast-paced, changing environments
-Visual acuity for material inspection
-Ability to read and interpret safety rules, order jackets, and procedure manuals
Physical Requirements:
-Standing for extended periods
-Frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
-Regular lifting/moving of spools weighing up to 50 lbs
-Occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
