Job Description
Monday through Friday 8-12 hours a day,
some Saturdays as needed.
Position Summary
The mill end welder’s role provides slit steel to the mill, executing changeover and set up of
machines. Operation of the mill accumulator to ensure steel feed and quality of the steel. Welds
strips and grinds to flush material for continuous feed of steel for milling operations.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for keeping tube mills supplied with slit steel.
• Verify each strip of steel is the correct material before loading onto the mill.
• Executes change over and set up of the machines.
• The end welder welds strips together and grinds off extra weld flush to the material.
• Operates accumulator to run slit steel into the mill.
• Operates the overhead crane to load slit coils onto the un-coiler.
• Inspects and verifies the safety of all equipment and materials, i.e., chain fall.
• Adheres to all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance operational safety and efficiency.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Other duties as assigned, such as helping with off-bearing as needed, or other assignments.
Required Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 to 3 years’ Industrial manufacturing experience or technical degree, associate degree,
certificate, or equivalent in a related field is a plus.
