Orientation is two weeks long. The first part of orientation is a general facilities orientation. It takes place M-F 7:45am-4:00pm and is mandatory for all days. The second week orientation will be more specific to their department. They will be shadowing other correctional officers to see the different postings within the facility. This orientation is also M-F 7:45am-4:00pm and is also mandatory for all days. Once they are out of training they will be put on their regular schedule. Uniforms will be given once they go through orientation for hands on training. Can wear jeans and t-shirts and tennis shoes for classroom Will need boots for hands on training. 3 days straight of work, 4th day mandated call in between 7:30-7:40am to see if they are needed. If yes, the shift could vary. If no, they are done until their next scheduled 3 days. If they are needed on mandated days, must report in by 9am. Employees will be given a 45 min lunch Essential Duties The responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: • Safe and humane management of prisoners • Interacting with prisoners to aid in rehabilitation programs • Applying rules in a consistent and fair manner • Monitoring the integrity of perimeter, locks, ventilation, etc. • Contacting center operations and requesting personnel in the event of an emergency • Overseeing inmate and overseeing prisoner transport • Restraining inmates when necessary Recognizing volatile situations and defusing where possible”

Requirement: MUST be 21 years old or older; Original high school diploma or GED
