Job Description
Crown Staffing is Hiring – Packer Helper
Location: Middletown, OH
Pay: $18 per hour
Schedule:
10-hour shifts, Monday–Thursday
Position Summary:
The Packer Helper is responsible for packing tubing, preparing packaging materials, and bundling tubing as it comes off the end finishing equipment in the Mill department. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality by inspecting tubing and ensuring proper packaging per customer specifications.
Responsibilities & Essential Duties:
-Load tubing into racks or bundles, ensuring proper alignment
-Inspect tubing for surface defects such as scratches, dents, or marks
-Separate conforming and non-conforming tubing
-Place Finished Goods Tags on bundles or racks for inventory
-Operate rack moving devices and bundling equipment
-Bundle and band tubing using wood and banding materials
-Prepare packing materials for current or next orders as time allows
-Assist with length changes on finishing equipment
-Apply rust preventative oil as required
-Prepare and inspect tubes for inventory release
-Report non-conforming material immediately
-Notify operators to stop line if suspect material is detected
-Maintain a clean work area
-Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Impact on Customer Quality:
The Packer Helper helps minimize rejects by catching visual defects and communicating issues to the mill crew. Responsible for proper packaging per customer control plans.
Qualifications:
-Ability to operate tow motors, overhead cranes, and bundling equipment
-General knowledge of tube production and end finishing processes
-Proficient with micrometers and tape measures
-Physically capable of handling tubing 3/8” to 3” in diameter, up to 28 feet long
Job Requirements
Education & Experience:
-High school diploma or GED
-1 to 3 months related experience or equivalent training
Skills:
-Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
-Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively
-Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with common units
-Ability to follow detailed but straightforward instructions and solve basic problems
Certifications:
-Forklift certification
Crane certification
-In-house training provided
