Job Description

Our client is a global manufacturer of food packaging products and solutions. They are looking for a Stationary Engineer for their Chicago facility.
 
Stationary Engineer (Trial-to-Hire)
Job Details
  • Schedule: Weekly rotating schedule, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with on-call duties
  • Pay: $36/hour
  • Overtime: Possible based on operational needs
Stationary Engineer Requirements
  • 2–3 years of experience in power plant operation, including firing high-pressure stationary boilers
  • Current Stationary Engineer Operator’s License for local and state certification required
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain steam boilers, compressors, generators, pumps, and related mechanical/electrical equipment (excluding PLCs)
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic, plumbing, and mechanical systems related to boiler operations
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on steam boilers and ancillary equipment
  • Ability to maintain accurate logs, equipment documentation, PM documentation, and work orders
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
About the Stationary Engineer Role
As a Stationary Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Operate and maintain steam boilers and ancillary equipment in compliance with local and state standards
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair steam boilers, compressors, generators, pumps, and related mechanical and electrical systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance on boilers and all ancillary equipment
  • Maintain daily logs, work orders, PM documentation, and equipment records
  • Organize and manage spare parts and supply inventories; anticipate needed materials and requisition parts
  • Use the maintenance computer program to track work orders, parts, and preventive maintenance schedules
  • Maintain equipment efficiency and reduce waste through regular inspections and repairs
  • Support operational staff and respond to on-call maintenance issues as needed
