About the Role
Crown Staffing is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in a Neuro ICU setting in Lexington, KY. This role involves caring for high-acuity adult patients, including stroke, post-neurosurgical, and critical care cases.
The ideal candidate has strong Neuro ICU experience, is confident working in a fast-paced environment, and can manage complex patient conditions independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive critical care to ICU patients using the nursing process
- Monitor and manage ventilated patients and advanced life support systems
- Administer medications, blood products, and continuous IV infusions
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips based on patient condition
- Monitor neurological status and respond to acute changes
- Assist with and manage post-neurosurgical and stroke patients
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Follow all hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Strong Neuro ICU experience required (must be clearly listed in work history)
- Previous travel experience required
- Active RN license in Kentucky or compact state
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- 2 professional references required at submission
Core Skills & Experience
Candidates should be experienced with:
- Ventilator management
- Arterial and central line care (including PICC lines)
- IV starts and maintenance
- Blood product administration
- Continuous IV sedation and paralytics
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and 12-lead ECG
- Stroke (CVA) and acute neurological care
- Post-craniotomy and neurosurgical patient care
- ICP monitoring, EVDs, and lumbar drains
- CRRT/CVVHD
- Hypothermia protocols (Arctic Sun)
- Management of critically ill patients with multi-system organ failure
Preferred Experience
- IABP and Swan-Ganz catheter monitoring
- Port access and management
- Pre/post cath lab care
- Advanced neuro and cardiovascular procedures
Equipment & Procedures
- EVDs and lumbar drains
- CRRT
- Arctic Sun
- Ventilators
- BIS monitoring and Train of Four
- Hemosphere monitoring
- TNK administration and thrombectomy support
Compliance Requirements
- COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Labs must be scheduled within 2 days of signing and completed within 2 weeks
- EPIC experience required
