Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Nail Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating nail machines to produce nails according to work orders, blueprints, and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience working with machinery, using measuring tools, and maintaining production quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate nail machines and auxiliary equipment including wire drawers, grinders, and turntables according to drawings and specifications
- Perform machine setups, adjustments, and changeovers as needed
- Load and unload machinery with raw materials and finished products
- Maintain machinery by following preventative maintenance procedures and maintenance logs
- Monitor production schedules and ensure production goals are met
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Use measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, comparators, overlays, gauges, and depth pins
- Handle materials safely and efficiently throughout the production process
- Utilize standard hand and power tools
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
- Recognize hazards and take appropriate corrective action
- Perform general maintenance and housekeeping duties as assigned
- Follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors and management
- Maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and supervisors
- Operate a forklift as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–3 years of manufacturing or machine operating experience preferred
- Prior experience working with nail machinery and equipment preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience performing visual and precision inspections
- Knowledge of semi-automatic machine operation
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Forklift experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and reach frequently throughout the workday
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. without assistance
- Ability to perform physical labor in a manufacturing environment
