Job Description

Internal Job Description:
Licensed Professional Mental Health Clinician Job Description (LSW,
LISW or Equivalent) $45/hr

The setting for this role will be in a youth group home. Residents will be between the ages of 12 and 18.
Initially, approximately 8-12 hours a week is needed; available hours and responsibilities will increase as the residential treatment center fills, as well as during the summer months when children are out of
school. The job description below refers to part-time employees actively (Non on-call hours) working
under 30 hours per week.

A Licensed Professional Mental Health Clinician leads counseling and psychotherapeutic interventions
and activities, only practicing within the scope of their credentials. The Licensed Professional Mental
Health clinicians should schedule intake assessments, gauge the client’s treatment needs, and then devise
contextually sensitive treatment options. As therapy unfolds, you should review the suggested length
and type of interventions to boost clients’ prospects of fully recovering. The clinician shall coordinate
with the administrator, other care staff, and the child placement agency to ensure all parties are
consistent in providing care to clients that is person-centered and therapeutic for the individual client.
Treatment will be provided primarily on-site in a residential setting for youth and within the child’s
community as needed upon discharge from the residential program. Various modes of therapy are to be
provided, including individual, group, and family.

The clinician may also be scheduled for on-call shifts. These are times when a provider must remain
available outside of scheduled hours via phone and/or video conferencing technology (i.e., FaceTime or
Microsoft Teams) for critical mental health incidents and services. In certain situations, it may be
necessary for the clinician to provide an emergency on-site visit with the client. This should be an
uncommon event. Providers should have some flexibility to cover other providers' vacations and
may need to provide additional on-call coverage past what is typical. Time off must be approved
so that we can ensure that on-call shifts are covered and necessary services are being provided
.
In the case of a call-off for illness, providers should reschedule on-site counseling sessions.
In case of illness, off-site, on-call hours are still expected except for documented true
emergencies, as on-call coverage is required to operate and for our license. This is a health care
setting, and residents cannot be without 24-hour emergency on-call care.
Examples of issues for which the clinician might be contacted after-hours include, but are not limited to:
  • Panic or Anxiety Attacks
  • Reports of the client experiencing psychosis
