Job Description

Crown Staffing is seeking qualified, experienced Maintenance Mechanics for our partner company that manufactures plastic bottles. 
 
Note: The responsibilities as listed below are meant to be a general guideline for the daily tasks of this position.  In order to meet the needs of our customers, an employee may be asked to perform others tasks which are not specifically listed below.
 
Safety:
  1. Maintain a “safety first” attitude
  2. Adhere to all relevant safety policies and guidelines
  3. Know the primary and secondary egress routes in the event of an emergency evacuation
  4. Work to prevent injuries to yourself and those around you
  5. Establish and maintain good housekeeping
  6. Wear required PPE and comply with all GMP standards
  7. Perform periodic safety inspections of your assigned area
  8. Complete all annual safety training as assigned
  9. Complete authorized lock-out tag-out training
  10. Know the additional PPE requirements needed to perform operator job duties
  11. Wear a harness whenever stepping off the deck of a high lift
 
Quality & Food Safety:
  1. Maintain a “food safe” environment.  Report any food safety related issues to the Plant Engineer or Quality Manager
  2. Perform all duties necessary to meet Company and Regulatory requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company, HACCP, and SQF.
  3. Understand the basic principles of HACCP and food safety and how they apply to your job
  4. Adhere to prescribed Good Manufacturing Practices
  5. Perform cleaning as assigned per the Master Cleaning Schedule.  Sign-off and date that cleaning was completed
  6. Complete all quality and food safety training as assigned
  7. Can locate and reference documents (forms, work aids, work instructions, etc) that are relevant to your job
  8. Understand how to create new documents (forms, work aids, work instructions, etc) and update existing documents as needed
  9. Be knowledgeable of our customer complaints, understand how they impact the plant and know what your role is in preventing them from occurring
  10. Ensure that when repairs are complete, equipment and area is clean and meets food safety requirements prior to going back into service
  11. Ensure that all tools are recovered and accounted for when work is complete and prior to putting equipment back into service
 
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Ensures operation of machinery by completing preventive maintenance requirements on, production machines, conveyor systems and support equipment;
  2. To follow sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. 
  3. Troubleshoot machines mechanically and hydraulically
  4. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical operation and listening for problems; 
  5. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools. 
  6. Order spare parts as necessary
  7. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. 
  8. Make mechanical adjustments using the correct hand tools.
  9. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. 
  10. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop equipment. 
  11. Maintains technical knowledge by being willing to attend educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks. 
  12. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. 
  13. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. 
  14. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
 
 Qualifications:
  1. Minimum of 2 years experience as an maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing facility
  2. Demonstrate good attendance- report to work as scheduled and on time
  3. Demonstrate ability to understand and follow written and verbal work instructions
  4. Possess the required tools to successfully perform your job duties
  5. Must possess welding experience in gas & electric welding
  6. Ability to fill out pertinent documentation neatly and legibly
  7. Ability to work independently.  Is self-motivated and self-directed
  8. Demonstrates the ability to pay close attention to detail
  9. Can effectively communicate cross-departmentally and with the management team at all levels
 
Physical Demands:
  1. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
  2. Requires frequent squatting, bending, stooping, sitting and stretching
  3. Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
  4. Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate work instructions and documentation
  5. Requires correctable vision to be within normal range
  6. May require working in areas that are not air conditioned
  7. May require working outside and being exposed to the elements (e.g. heat, cold, rain, etc.)
  8. Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination
  9. Requires ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet
