Job Description
The Production Line Splicer is responsible for assisting in the production of paper cores and the manufacturing line and equipment. They serve as a supporting role to the manufacturing operation. This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required by the employee.
Responsibilities
Follow all safety policies and procedures and comply with company policies and procedures
Work cooperatively with the machine operator to ensure proper operation of machines in order to produce quality product
Follow customer and quality spec
Meet production standards as set by Production Manager
Use proper troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve line related problems
Identify correct paper by grade, thickness and width in order to meet standard
Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
Monitor and record data as required in Quality Control system
Report quality issues to machine operator
Perform related duties as required by supervisor
Requirements
Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions
Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization
Possess basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Possess basic data entry and computer skills
Perform basic visual quality inspections on products
Maintain the production pace of other team members
Utilize power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties
Physical demands
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
May involve repetitive motions
Must be able to lift up to 5 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally
May also engage in frequent bending, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of cores, core containers and raw rolls of paper
Must be able to work in various temperature conditions to include heat, humidity and cold
