Registered Nurse – ICU Requirements
- At least two years of nursing experience, as listed in the VMS
- Recent ICU experience must be confirmed
- Experience providing intensive-care or neuro-critical-care nursing services
- Strong critical-care patient-assessment skills
- Experience with continuous patient monitoring
- Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapies
- Ability to recognize and respond to emergency changes in patient condition
- Strong clinical-documentation and interdisciplinary communication skills
- Experience using electronic medical records
- Ability to operate critical-care monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, respiratory equipment, and emergency carts
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct ICU and neuro-critical-care nursing services during the night shift.
- Complete comprehensive critical-care patient assessments.
- Continuously monitor vital signs and changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications and prescribed treatments.
- Initiate and manage IV therapies.
- Operate and monitor critical-care equipment.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to patient emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Coordinate patient care with physicians and interdisciplinary staff.
- Follow all facility critical-care, patient-safety, and infection-control procedures.
About the Registered Nurse – ICU Role
