Physical Therapist Assistant Requirements
- Active Kentucky Physical Therapist Assistant license required
- Minimum of one year of Physical Therapist Assistant experience required
- Ability to work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Experience providing therapeutic exercises and mobility training
- Knowledge of gait training, transfers, balance activities, strengthening, and range-of-motion exercises
- Strong patient-monitoring and documentation skills
- Ability to follow established treatment plans and facility procedures
- Effective communication and patient-education skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with therapists and interdisciplinary clinical staff
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care
- Experience using electronic medical records
- Ability to operate standard physical therapy and rehabilitation equipment safely
Key Responsibilities
- Provide prescribed physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities.
- Provide mobility, gait, and transfer training.
- Guide patients through balance, strengthening, and range-of-motion exercises.
- Use gait belts, walkers, mobility devices, and transfer equipment safely.
- Prepare treatment areas and rehabilitation equipment.
- Monitor patient responses to therapy and prescribed interventions.
- Document treatments, patient participation, and progress accurately.
- Report changes in patient condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate patients and families regarding exercises and safety techniques.
- Follow established treatment plans and facility procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records.
- Coordinate care with therapists and other members of the clinical team.
- Follow all patient-safety, infection-control, and rehabilitation procedures.
- Perform additional therapy-support duties as assigned.
