Material Sales Specialist Job Details

Pay Rate: $25.00/hr

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Material Sales Specialist Requirements/Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Previous experience in a customer-facing role required.
Sales experience in building materials, construction products, or related industries preferred.
Previous experience with fencing materials or construction supplies is a plus.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Strong professionalism, maturity, and personal accountability.
Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and work independently.
Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prepare accurate quotes, process orders, and follow up with customers.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple customer requests and priorities efficiently.
Familiarity with wood, chain link, vinyl, aluminum, and steel fencing preferred.
Knowledge of fencing installation practices and local requirements is a plus.
Basic computer skills and willingness to learn sales management software.
Experience with Jobber or similar business management software preferred.
Associate or bachelor's degree in business, construction, or a related field preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to grow professionally.

About the Material Sales Specialist Role

As a Material Sales Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

Assist customers with purchasing fencing materials and related products.
Build and maintain professional relationships with contractors, builders, homeowners, and dealers.
Respond to customer inquiries through phone calls, emails, and in-person interactions.
Prepare accurate product quotes and process sales orders.
Follow up with customers to support sales opportunities and complete purchases.
Recommend fencing materials based on customer needs and project specifications.
Provide product information on wood, chain link, vinyl, aluminum, and steel fencing.
Explain differences in materials, finishes, grades, and installation methods.
Recommend additional products such as posts, gates, hardware, and tools.
Assist customers with standard catalog purchases.
Enter and manage customer orders using Jobber or other sales management systems.
Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, and delivery teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs.
Coordinate customer deliveries, pickups, and order updates.
Resolve customer concerns involving orders, backorders, and product availability.
Assist with scheduling estimates, service appointments, and customer meetings.
Maintain accurate sales records and customer documentation.
Support general office organization and administrative responsibilities.
Identify opportunities to improve customer service and sales processes.
Take ownership of daily responsibilities while supporting branch sales goals.
