Somerset, KY

Schedule Information
- Night shift
- 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
- 12-hour shifts
- 13-week assignment
Med/Surg Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Kentucky RN license or qualifying multistate compact license required
- Current BLS certification required
- One to two years of recent nursing experience required
- Recent medical-surgical or progressive-care experience preferred
- Strong patient-assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Experience with continuous patient monitoring
- Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapies
- Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
- Strong clinical-documentation and interdisciplinary communication skills
- Experience using electronic medical records
- Ability to operate standard medical-surgical and progressive-care equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical and progressive-care patients.
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments.
- Monitor vital signs and changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications and prescribed treatments.
- Initiate, maintain, and monitor IV therapies.
- Monitor patients requiring increased observation.
- Develop, update, and maintain nursing care plans.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Coordinate patient care with physicians and interdisciplinary clinical staff.
- Operate patient monitors, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and respiratory-support equipment.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow all patient-safety, infection-control, and facility procedures.
- Perform additional nursing duties as assigned.

This position provides direct nursing care, patient monitoring, medication administration, IV therapy, clinical documentation, and care coordination.
The ideal candidate will have one to two years of recent nursing experience and be comfortable caring for medical-surgical patients who may require increased observation. Candidates must hold an active RN license and current BLS certification.
