Schedule Information
- Night shift
- 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
- 12-hour shifts
- 10-week assignment
RN – Labor & Delivery Requirements
- Active Kentucky RN license or applicable compact-state license required
- Active BLS certification required
- Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification required
- ACLS certification required if specified by the facility
- Fetal-monitoring credentials must meet facility requirements
- At least two years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required
- Strong maternal and fetal assessment skills
- Experience monitoring labor progression and fetal heart-rate patterns
- Experience administering medications, treatments, and IV therapies
- Ability to recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies
- Strong clinical-documentation and patient-education skills
- Experience using electronic medical records
- Effective communication and interdisciplinary teamwork abilities
- Compassionate and family-centered approach to care
- Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and clinical standards
- All licenses and certifications must be verified before submission
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Labor and Delivery patients during the night shift.
- Complete comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments.
- Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rates, and labor progression.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in maternal or fetal condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments safely.
- Prepare patients and equipment for labor, delivery, and obstetric procedures.
- Assist physicians and other clinical professionals during deliveries and procedures.
- Provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum nursing care as assigned.
- Respond appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
- Support immediate newborn care and neonatal-resuscitation procedures when needed.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
- Provide emotional support to patients and family members.
- Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation.
- Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary clinical staff.
- Follow all medication-safety, infection-control, and facility procedures.
- Perform additional Labor and Delivery nursing duties as assigned.
