Waste Management Technician Requirements
- Ability to safely work with scrap, recyclable, nonhazardous, and hazardous waste
- Basic typing and data-entry skills
- Ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping accuracy
- Ability to identify, segregate, label, and document waste materials
- Ability to prepare waste containers for shipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare status reports and assist with monthly reporting
- Ability to follow safety, environmental, and regulatory procedures
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area according to 5S standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Commitment to environmental protection, pollution prevention, and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
- Process scrap, recyclable, nonhazardous, and hazardous waste generated by manufacturing operations.
- Receive, segregate, label, and log drums and waste containers.
- Assist with identifying and properly classifying waste materials.
- Prepare waste containers for shipment.
- Assist with loading and shipping trucks.
- Receive and communicate requests for full-container pickup.
- Coordinate the delivery of empty waste and recycling containers.
- Enter waste, scrap, and shipment information into computer systems.
- Maintain accurate databases, spreadsheets, and operational records.
- Prepare status reports.
- Assist with monthly scrap and waste reports.
- Support Environmental Management System performance and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in environmental continuous-improvement and pollution-prevention efforts.
- Follow all safety guidelines and waste-handling procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area according to 5S standards.
- Participate in team meetings and required training.
- Assist other operational areas as time permits.
- Perform additional waste-management duties as assigned.
