Service Assistant / Maintenance Technician Requirements/Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Related maintenance experience and/or training preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions and work orders.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve maintenance-related problems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to work on ladders and roofs up to 40 feet.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and around maintenance equipment.
About the Service Assistant / Maintenance Technician Role
As a Service Assistant / Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include:
As a Service Assistant / Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Assist with service tickets and apartment maintenance requests.
- Perform electrical, plumbing, appliance, and window repairs.
- Complete drywall repairs, caulking, paint touch-ups, and other apartment preparation tasks.
- Remove and install flooring, wall plates, light globes, and other apartment components.
- Prepare vacant apartments for new residents.
- Complete maintenance items identified during resident move-in inspections.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
- Maintain clean and organized maintenance shops and garages.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies are needed.
- Assist with snow and ice removal as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of vacant unit status and completed maintenance work.
- Provide professional customer service to residents, subcontractors, coworkers, and management.
- Follow all company safety procedures and properly use tools and equipment.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
