Transportation & Customs Specialist Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Logistics, International Trade, Business, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation, customs, freight forwarding, or a related field
- Automotive or manufacturing experience preferred
- Hands-on knowledge of FCA, EXW, and other Incoterms
- Experience with JIT/JIS delivery processes
- Knowledge of U.S. import/export documentation and customs clearance procedures
- Familiarity with ERP, WMS, or TMS systems preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers
- Knowledge of U.S. customs regulations preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate inbound shipments from global suppliers under FCA, EXW, and other applicable shipping terms
- Schedule carriers, track shipments, and resolve transportation issues
- Manage outbound JIT/JIS deliveries to customers to ensure accurate and on-time shipments
- Coordinate import and export customs clearance for raw materials and finished goods
- Prepare and maintain customs and transportation documentation
- Communicate with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, suppliers, and customers
- Help optimize transportation costs and service levels
- Maintain accurate shipping, customs, and compliance records
- Calculate and reconcile accounts payable amounts with suppliers
- Assist with logistics planning and resolve transportation delays or customs-related issues
- Track logistics KPIs and prepare regular reports
- Process and coordinate damage claims involving suppliers and freight forwarders
- Support continuous improvement efforts within transportation and logistics operations
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
