Registered Nurse (RN) – Psychiatric Facility
Louisville, KY
Pay:
- 0–3 Years of Experience: $44.00/hour
- 4–6 Years of Experience: $45.00/hour
- 7+ Years of Experience: $46.00/hour
Position Type: Full-Time | Day & Night Shifts Available
Schedule Information
- 12-hour shifts
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule based on facility needs
Psychiatric RN Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Previous psychiatric, behavioral health, or mental health nursing experience preferred
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Experience administering medications and treatments safely
- Ability to respond effectively to psychiatric and medical emergencies
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to behavioral healthcare
- Strong documentation and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to adult patients with psychiatric illnesses in accordance with physician orders and facility policies
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized Personal Recovery Plans (PRPs)
- Monitor patient behavior, mental status, and physical condition while communicating changes to appropriate healthcare staff
- Administer medications, treatments, and other nursing interventions safely and accurately
- Obtain vital signs, collect specimens, and perform routine nursing procedures
- Respond appropriately to psychiatric and medical emergencies
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and recovery goals
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic medical record
- Coordinate patient evaluations, admissions, and transitions of care
- Provide shift reports and communicate unusual occurrences according to facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, committees, and interdisciplinary team meetings
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, patients, families, and healthcare staff to support positive patient outcomes
- Perform additional nursing duties as assigned
